ANNOUNCEMENTS – March 20 – 24

  • There will be a Best Buddies meeting on Tuesday March 21 at the start of lunch in room 118. We will be working on a craft and would like to see all members attend!!!
  • JHSS Custom Windbreakers are now on sale until March 26th. The windbreaker jackets come in 3 colours, and can be customized with your name and club/team. The cost is only $36 plus HST.     There is a link to the store on the JHSS twitter account or use the QR codes on the posters. Sizing will take place this week at lunch in the upper foyer.
  • There will be a Softball Tryout Tuesday after school, ALL players interested in trying out are asked to be dressed ready to participate outdoors and meet in the West Gym lobby before heading out. Thank you.
  • The languages department is considering offering a trip to France during March Break of 2018. If you’re interested, please go to the JHSS website and take the survey located on the languages page.

  • Attention all boys interested in playing soccer!  The second tryout will take place on Wednesday March 22 after school on the turf field.
  • If you need volunteer hours the Preston Figure Skating Club is looking for help with their annual gala on March 25th at the Preston Auditorium. If you are interested please contact Sandra Crossley at scrossley@edgeimaging.ca
  • March Win the Book Contest. The Library is running a Reading Canada Contest for staff and students. Find the book in the Read 150 Canadian Books display that appears the most times, submit your ballot in the Library and you will be entered in a draw on March 31st to win the book! See Mrs. Johnston and Ms. Lefaive for more details.
  • GSA meetings are moving to THURSDAY!!! Everyone’s welcome to come on THURSDAYS at lunch to be a part of the GSA!
    Still don’t know what the GSA is? It’s a community and a place to feel safe; it’s a chance to learn about issues of gender and sexual identity and challenge homophobia; it’s a room to hangout in at lunch and simply enjoy our beautiful diversity!

  • A Huge Congratulations to our music students for their outstanding performances at MusicFest Regionals in London!! These students should be acknowledged not only for their musical achievements, receiving 1 Bronze and 4 Silver Awards, but also for their professionalism and exemplary behaviour demonstrated at Musicfest. Special congratulations to the JHSS Sax and Percussion Ensembles, who have qualified to compete at MusicFest Canada Nationals in Niagara Falls in May! Outstanding job, everyone!!!
