JHSS Celebrates Canada’s 150th with 150 Red & White Tulips
May 9th, 2017
Thank-you to all grade 9 science students who helped plant 150, Limited Edition Canada 150 bulbs that are now in bloom at the front of our school!
These tulips represent a long-standing friendship between Canada and the Netherlands. The Netherlands created these bulbs to commemorate Canada’s 150th in a show of gratitude for the role Canadians played in liberating their country during the Second World War. They are grateful also that Canada provided refuge for the Dutch royal family, at the time, in Ottawa where their Princess Margriet was born in exile.
