Update Nov. 30 JHSS Hold & Secure

November 30, 2018

Dear Jacob Hespeler SS families,

I want to make you aware of a situation that affected our school today. Staff were made aware of a potential threat to student safety. Around 11:45 a.m. administration made the decision to place our school in Hold and Secure as a precautionary measure. Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) was called and responded right away.

As part of our hold and secure protocol, students and staff remained inside and all exterior doors were locked so no one could enter or exit the building. Students who were outside at the time were brought indoors. Staff and students were safe inside the school at all times. Our school remained in a hold and secure for approximately one hour when WRPS confirmed that the there was no immediate threat to the school and it was safe to return to our regular school routines.

We will always take whatever precaution is necessary to ensure the safety of our students and staff. We want to thank our partners at WRPS for helping to keep our schools safe places to learn. As always, please call me at the school at 519-658-4910 if you have questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Brenda Cathcart

Principal
