JHSS Update on June 4 Incident
June 1st, 2019
To our Jacob Hespeler SS students and families,
Yesterday afternoon, Administration and staff received an email that was threatening in nature. This threat was immediately reported to the Waterloo Regional Police Service and our school was placed in Lockdown. It is unacceptable to make threats, written or verbal, towards anyone. No matter the intention, we take any intimidation or threat of violence seriously and the student and staff safety is our priority.
Last evening the WRPS apprehended the individual responsible for the threat. The individual is subject to consequences and progressive discipline that may result in:
- criminal charges and;
- suspension or expulsion from school
We want to thank our partners at WRPS for helping to keep our schools safe places to learn. We will always take whatever precaution is necessary to ensure the safety of our students and staff. These situations can cause distress. If your student is struggling, there are supports available on site. Please reach out to Guidance and or an Administrator.
