Hello Hawks, 

Through discussions with Public Health, we have been able to arrange temporary access to the school for students to come in and remove personal items from their lockers and return learning materials such as text books and library books. Students in Grades 9 to 11, please note that if choosing not to retrieve items at this time that your locker will remain locked. Students will retain their current locker next year. 

Please read the following information carefully: 

Access to the school is prohibited to anyone who is exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 or who has had contact with a confirmed case.  If you are feeling unwell, please complete the following self-assessment Region of Waterloo Public Health COVID-19 Self-Assessment and if the self-assessment indicates recommendations for care/isolation, and/or the conditions a) or b) are not, met, do not come to the school/site.

The number of students in the school at any time will be limited during each time slot. Physical distancing at all times will be required. You will be provided with hand sanitizer and a bag when entering and hand sanitizer when exiting. Masks and face coverings are recommended but will not be provided. Gloves will not be provided.  All school washrooms will be closed.

Time slots are for 15 minutes and will be available for four days as follows:

Grade 12 Graduating Students, we would really like your textbooks and Chromebook back during this time if you no longer need them. If you need your Chromebook for summer school or other learning you may keep at this time. Watch for returning information at the end of the summer.  

ENTERING AND EXITING THE SCHOOL

To further ensure everyone’s health and safety, please enter and exit the school through assigned doors as follows: 

Students with lockers in the Language / English / History hallway, entry will be through the  LANGUAGE doors (Holiday Inn Drive). Exit from the school will be through the SIDE FOYER doors. 

For students with lockers in the Science / Math / Art wing, entry will be through the front lower SCIENCE doors (Holiday Inn Dr).  Exit will be from the PHOENIX doors. 

For students with lockers in the Music / Business wing, entry will be through the back MUSIC doors (Bechtel St along the field).  Exit will be through the RECEIVING doors.

STUDENT SAFETY PROTOCOLS

  1. PHYSICAL (SOCIAL) DISTANCING:  The Region of Waterloo Public Health continues to communicate that physical distancing is a critical safety practice for all, therefore you are required to practice physical (social) distancing at ALL times when you are in the building – ensuring you maintain a 2m (6.5 ft) physical distance between you and others at all times.
  2. RESPIRATORY ETIQUETTE:  Cough / sneeze into your elbow or a tissue and dispose into a garbage can in the area you are working. If using a tissue, once the tissue is in the garbage, use hand sanitizer again.
  3. AVOID TOUCHING YOUR FACE (EYES, NOSE, or MOUTH):  While at any WRDSB site, avoid touching your face. If you need to scratch/itch, use an area of your body that you have not coughed or sneezed onto, such as your upper arm or shoulder.
