Thursday, June 26 and Friday, June 27 are professional development (PD) days for secondary school staff.

  • Grade 9 to 12 students will not attend school, in person or virtually
  • Board-operated Extended Day and Youth Development programs will be closed on Friday, June 27, 2025

About Professional Development (PD) Days

PD days are held throughout the school year to provide learning opportunities for school-based staff. This professional learning focuses on providing educators and staff with the knowledge and skills needed to support and enhance student achievement and well being.

What Secondary School Staff Are Learning

Thursday, June 26 and Friday, June 27, 2025 – Full Day Sessions

  • Focus: Individual work finalizing course final evaluation tasks and semester end processes
  • Formats: In-person with a combination of whole group, and small group discussions and planning
  • Learning delivery method: Group Instruction and self-directed
  • Presenter(s)/Facilitator(s): Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB)
  • Schools Participating: All secondary schools

Content of Staff Learning

  • Teachers will take part in whole school learning activities led by Principals, anchored in their individual school learning and improvement plans
  • Teachers will refer to provincial curriculum guidelines, Growing Success, and the Assessment, Evaluation and Reporting guidelines of the WRDSB
  • Clevr Software Training
