We are proud to announce that JHSS will fly the Pride flag during the month of June. While our schools and workplaces are closed, our commitment to supporting each and every one of our students and staff remains fundamental.

Representation and visibility are critically important, and now more than ever June is a time to celebrate sexual and gender diversity. We will continue to honour our commitment to all our staff and students this June.

June is pride month in Canada. Many institutions and organizations, including our Nation’s Parliament, fly the pride flag as a celebration of diversity. Many of our students, staff, parents, guardians and community members identify as members of the Rainbow (or 2SLGBTQI+) community. This is a time for us to celebrate diversity in our schools and bring awareness to the elimination of prejudice.

The Pride flag is a symbol for the 2SLGBTQI+ community. Its colours, red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet represent life, healing, sunlight, nature, harmony and spirit.

Flying the Pride flag signals that our school is an inclusive space for everyone.
